@devil4nofate That depends on It or you buy it in a kit or separatly. for example the kit with two lenzes: 18-55 + 75-300 but those are not stabilized witch is very useful. you can also buy the kit that I recently bought, with one lens: 18-55 with stabilizer. (IS) or you can buy a separate body with a lens from another brand: for example the tamron 18-200. good luck with the choosing!!

@MihausApp Thats actually wrong, they are all the same camera. You can shoot upto 29 mins 59 sec mins in SD 640x480 or 12 mins in HD modes. 4GB file limit..... all down to codec licencing. Canon have had to pay a licence fee to apple for using the h264 codec. Rick

Go is not a "solved" game, like checkers, where certain moves will guarantee victory (think of 3 by 3 Tic-Tac-Toe). Go is more complex than chess, actually, but it's a great game when playing with people who are as skilled or unskilled as you are. A skilled Go player will beat you in a minute. Playing on a small board at first is essential, as it's easier to see where the stones go and get territory. So if you have a competition-size board, 19 square, rule off some of it for practice plays.

Respond to this video... While scoring, you forgot Komi. If Black gets a handicap, using the Star Points to get ahead, Komi doesn't count. If there is no handicap, White gets 6.5 points because Black went first. The extra half is to avoid ties. Those 6.5 points are called Komi.

This is a great tutorial, no question about it. However, you say that the game is not about capturing stones. This is a bit simplistic, in my opinion. It is certainly true that one should emphasize balance when playing, as in building territory, connecting loose groups, etc. But when you see a good chance to capture a lot of enemy stones, there is nothing wrong in really going for it. This is especially true for newer players, as defending can get pretty complicated.

@phalluses Just swap some captured stones between players (as long as the trade is even; e.g., "you give me 10, i give you 10") if someone starts running out of stones, this is easy and the relative difference between the two sides' scores won't change after doing this so this won't affect the outcome of the game at all (e.g., trading 10 stones each would mean you each lose 10 points in captured stones, but if you would have lead by 5 points to begin with you'll still lead by 5 after the trade)

A "full" set of stones is generally considered to be 181 black and 180 white - but this is something of a theoretical maximum because that lets you have a stone on every point on a full-size board. In any real game there are going to be a number of unoccupied points so 160 should be fine in practice. If you go over that, it probably means that there were a lot of captures and in a pinch you can reuse the prisoners (just keep track of how many were put back in play!) Happy go-ing!

Scientific* notation is useless if you don't know the context and i don't think that they are talking about the total numbers of positions. I think it more like the number of variable for white and black form the starting position cause like i sayed the number of total position is one flat number. Scientific don't exaggerate*, it more like an estimate but ther nothing? to estimate in this game. Also I dont understand wat you mean by bring down the numbers the move would be acounted to that.

@Love4Boobies Vi was made to run under certain conditions I think around ~30 yrs ago. I recall a quote by the original developer who said the key combinations just barely worked, so he kept it. I personally prefer emacs though, but vi/m is still a good thing to know.

@Autotrope an even better way is to learn by doing, rather than seeing it being done. You need to make vim "yours": everytime you wonder how to do something, google it, find it, bookmark it, and it's become yours. Then, slowly over time you'll learn an impressive set of commands!

@Bitziucci make sure you are using vim and not vi. If it is vim try :set nocompatible (which changes you from vi-compatible mode to vim mode). If that is the problem, you will want to put that in your vimrc file so that it always runs in that mode.

The problem is that there's not enough room there to make a group with two eyes so it can live. Well, it would be possible if you could make about a half-dozen moves in a row, but remember you have to do it while the opponent is trying to stop you! To get a feel for this, try out some beginning life-and-death problems - there are good books and web sites for this. Many players love working these puzzles - they're like "Sudoku for Go".

by the way for your ko-threat example, I think white's "ko-threat" on black's 3 stones on the top left corner is way too small comparing to the ko-fight on bottom right.. In a real game, black would ignore white's atari on top left and connects and kills white's 4 stones on bottom right (this is a 20-30 point gain for black while maybe 5-6 points loss on top-left corner)

Capturing races are often referred to as 'semeai'. Also reverse komi is used is used in systems with half ranks, when giving black an extra handicap stone is too much so they just get an extra 6 points (5.5 reverse komi). On IGS going up in half rank differences the komi pattern is 6.5, 0.5, -5.5, 2s 0.5, 2s -5.5, 3s 0.5, 3s -5.5 etc. So in this system going first is valued at 6.5, and each rank = 12 points = one handicap stone.

the Go lesson language is very important. there are too many terminologies that use only pronounciation translation, but not in actual english. it is better to develop a kind if naming convention to use real english to represent everything in this game. for example "compensation" is much better than "komi".

Hi, maliximojo: You're thinking of "komi", which is not an actual rule of the game but has become a widely-used convention. Komi points are usually given to White, though; check out part II of the tutorial for a discussion, starting at about 5:00. In some more advanced handicapping formulas, mostly used in tournaments, it's possible for Black to get the komi instead (called "reverse komi"). You don't usually encounter it outside of a tournament, though.

This is probably the most straightforward guide to getting the "Frank the Pimp" achievement. You've noticed the existing text guides out there just don't work. You should be able to do the bulk of this achievement in about 30 minutes real-time. No babysitting Leah/Sophie, no waiting around forever, and no wondering why Otis doesn't call. Good luck!

I don't get why survivors don't help you or each other. Like one time, I killed the cult leader, then the cultists, I untied all the survivors and got cheryl out of the closet, then I ran to the door of that theater and all the survivirs were with me, then I saw 1 cultist, he sprayed the sleepy gas, then he dragged me away, and my survivors did NOTHING!!!
