Microsoft Excel VLOOKUP Tutorial for Beginners - Office Excel 2003, 2007, 2010

This video is a brief tutorial on how to use the (sometimes complex) =vlookup() function in Microsoft Excel. I use Excel 2007 in this video, but it works in 2003, 2007, and 2010. The tutorial is designed for beginners that are required to use Excel on a regular basis (probably for work). Some possible uses include: Catalog management, Simplification of a worksheet or workbook, or finding pricing, naming, or anything else out of a long list.

By “column 2” he means the second column of the data set. In this video, that translates to column B. However, if the data was shifted one column over (so nothing in column A) then “column 2” actually becomes column C.

Do not pay attention to the alphabetical column number a column has, just where it is in relation to the total data set.

Hi can you clarify please. Several times when you did Vlook up you state you are going to select “column 2” but in actuality, 2 is a row…. Alphabets are Columns numbers are rows. that just made it a tad confusing cus i was looking for Column 2 as if i had lost my mind.

Awesome vid….one question: by using the term “anchor”, are you referring to setting absolute values ($) in the formulas?
